An impressive presentation, if you want to revise note the following:
ReplyDeleteCorrect spelling of "soldier" in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Re Warp films, you need to show clips from either "This is England" or "Dead Man's Shoes" both Warp productions and films directed by Shane Meadows with unknown cast and improvised scripts, both films about troubled young men and anti social behaviour. Read reviews to get the focus of these films accurate. This would strengthen your response immensely.
Great shots from "Another Earth" - you could explain in more sophisticated terminology that the film stays in the mind because of its impressive cinematography. Also this is another film about a troubled young woman who whilst drunk crashes her car into another and kills a pregnant woman her her young son.
Well done Austen, your Evaluation is interesting and reflects excellent commitment and independent research.
Excellently refreshing and innovative presentation of this question. One or two minor areas to revise:
ReplyDeleteNear the beginning of your clip (frist slide) you say Working title would be uninteresting for many reasons...... Instead it would be better to say "inappropriate" because Working Title films such as Tinker Tailor and if you like Atonement are targeting a different audience. Both of these Working Title films have high production values. Also Working Title has American money so their films are strongly marketed to an American audience with celebrity actors, exotic locations and so on. The target audience for Tinker Tailor is middle class 45+ males because the film's characters are upper class males involved in spying during the Cold War of the late 1950's and 60's thus the 16-25 year old demographic which Warp Films target cannot identify with the plot or characters. You can say what you thought of the film say in comparison to This is England and or Dead Man's Shoes or Animal Kingdom.
At 4.33 re Another Earth you say "simplex arrangement of objects". Could you revise and instead explain that the composition of mise-en-scene uses (think about rule of thirds, or low or wide angle shots or what is appropriate) 1st screen shot is a cultural reference to rural USA with the white timber framed farm house; shot 2 note the low wide angle shot and the positioning of the girl and that she is silhouetted against a vast sky connoting the spiritual nature of this sci fi drama, also note use of shadows; Shot 3 over the shoulder slightly low angle shot and use of 3 rule of thirds drawing the eye to the girl and to the other world - both dominate the mise-en-scene thus reflecting the strong role the girl has in the action and the enormous planet hovering above reflecting the film's genre. A great shot of you and wonderful piano accompaniment.
If you have time these revisions would place your response to this question and the highest level,
Thank you for your feedback, I have implied your suggestions for my final edit/copy.
