Opening To A Thriller Film: Planning - Practice Shots/Shot Ideas

Practice Shots/Ideas

Long Shot
(Version 1)

I like the tilt in the mise-en-seine in this shot.
It adds a thriller
feel towards the image which I find
very effective
compared to the one below.
Long Shot
(Version 2)

Extreme Close Up
(Version 1)

The Extreme Close Up Shot here makes you feel alienated
as you can not see the whole of the human face.
You begin to wonder - Who is this mysterious figure?

  1. Note the vanishing point in your first image, this locating to include the vanishing point would be splendid in your thriller.

  2. If you reference research into thriller films when you evaluate your planning ideas then your marks are strengthened. Taking note of your first shot watch the end of "The Third Man" on Youtube, and try to get a screen shot of Anna as she walks away from Holly Martins in the final shot. The vanishing point is behind her!!!!
